The Bloodstar is an outlaw gang primarily active in the Ceto system. Once led by Chief Bolton, they are known for their ruthlessness and tendency to plunder any target they come across. Bloodstar forces wield powerful weaponry and are typically more formidable than other outlaw enemies. They are the manufacturers of the Bloodstar Raid Set, with pieces occasionally dropped by Bloodstar enemies.
History[]
The mission Gathering Dust offers significant insight into the origins of the Bloodstar gang:
- The earliest Bloodstar members were once space miners working for Grady & Brunt Prospects. When the war between the Colonials and the Okkar spread into their region, they survived by retreating into deep mine shafts until the fighting subsided.
- After the war, the systems they inhabited were left in ruins, and Grady & Brunt Prospects made no effort to assist them. Abandoned and desperate, the survivors banded together to form a relief group, which would eventually become the Bloodstar coalition.
- In its early days, the Bloodstar operated as a democratic and humanitarian organization. It was governed by an elected council and often aided stranded or starving crews. They also took care to preserve their history through appointed Archivists.
- Bolton—a man left disfigured by either the war or his mining work (the exact cause is unknown)—was forced to wear a breather mask at all times, earning him the nickname "Gasmask." Resentful and in constant pain, Bolton pushed for a more aggressive stance toward other factions. After failing to gain leadership through the democratic process, he is believed to have seized power by force.
- According to a conversation with the Archivist in Gathering Dust, Bolton’s rise marked a turning point: "it all went to hell." Under his rule, the Bloodstar became the violent, militant group known during the events of Everspace 2.
