DisambigFor component resources in Everspace 2, see Components (ES2).

Components are critical parts of the player's ship in Everspace. They can be randomly damaged if the ship's hull is below 75%, or can randomly overheat during a battle. If a component is damaged or overheated, it will continue to function but at a significant penalty. Secondary weapons are an exception and no longer work while damaged or overheated. The chance of a component being damaged can be reduced with the Component Damage Chance Perk, and the repair costs can be decreased with the Component Damage Repair Costs Perk.

Damage Chance[]

The chance for a component to be damaged is based on a formula and a percentage based on current hull hitpoints.

  • There are three different base chances for component damage for every hit: 1% if hull is below 75%, 1.5% if below 50% and 2% if below 25%
    • Components cannot be damaged when above 75% hull.
  • These base chances are modified based on the max hitpoints of the ship and amount of damage the hit deals: Base % * Damage / max hull hitpoints
  • With the component perks and any ship armor factored in, the final formula for the damage chance is:
(([Component Damage Chance] - ([Component Damage Chance] * [Component Damage Chance Perk Percentage])) * ([Weapon Damage Taken] - ([Weapon Damage Taken] * [Armor Percentage]))) / [Max Hull]
