Walkthrough[]

As all of these challenges increase the difficulty of the high-risk area being run, to varying extents, using the least challenging high-risk area signal decoder available is ideal. Prefer traits on the decoder that are either relatively easy to deal with, or actively beneficial for combat (such as G&B being present). Using decoders below your level is also highly recommended, though note that decoders cannot be used, nor high-risk areas run, if they are more than 3 levels below your character level.

  • Complete a High-risk Area without firing a primary weapon.
    • The obvious choice for this one is using a Bomber, as this gives you infinite usage of secondary weaponry. Devices and consumables are also very useful for this challenge.
  • Complete a High-risk Area without using a device or ULT.
    • Relatively easy, choose a hull and build that is relatively strong even without its ULT, and does not depend heavily on device usage. Note that consumables are not included in this, so active use of consumables can offset the lack of devices and ULT.
  • Complete a High-risk Area without taking damage to the hull.
    • Consumables that mitigate damage (ex. Damage Limiter, Peacemaker, Energy Shield, Cloak Field Generator) are highly recommended.
    • Armor Plates with a high armor restore per kill are very useful here, as are any module or weapon bonuses that provide shield or armor restoration or mitigation.
    • A mastered Nano Transmitter device set to Carefree Package so that it also repairs shield and armor is quite useful.
    • Delia Wendo's Energy Orb Perk can be exceptionally strong for this, as at levels 2 and 3 respectively, the orbs will restore some armor and shield when collected. Her Nanotechnology Perk at level 3 that makes Nano Injectors and Nanobots also restore armor is also quite handy.
    • Hulls and builds that have a heavy emphasis on shield and/or armor durability and regeneration are very useful here.
      • Gunships gain significant armor damage reduction via Expertise, and can have passives that repair armor when not taking hits, increase armor repair per kill, and instantly repair armor when using a consumable.
      • Bombers have incredibly large shield and armor bonuses innately, and can have a passive reducing damage taken from enemy explosives and largely negating mines entirely.
      • Vindicators have significant shield bonuses (though lower than a Bomber), and their drones are very good at distracting enemies and reducing incoming fire on the Vindicator. They can also have a passive providing 10% shield restoration when collecting wreckage
        • Vindicators with the Commander Set 3-set bonus can be exceptionally durable, as they regain full shield whenever one of their drones dies.
      • Sentinels gain significant shield damage reduction via Expertise, and can gain additional shield HP as a passive, as well as several other passives oriented around shield restoration or damage mitigation. They can also have a passive providing immunity to corrosion if their shields are at 50% or higher.
  • Complete a High-risk Area with neither shield nor armor installed.
    • Probably the most difficult challenge of the lot. Recommend heavy usage of hull-repairing consumables and damage mitigation, as well as the Nano Transmitter device.
    • Bombers natively repair hull via damage dealt, as well as having the highest base hull values of any ship type.
    • Modules that provide hull damage reduction are very useful
    • Another possible option is using a |Scout with high expertise/primary weapon range from modules, using a Rail Gun (preferable Marksman), and simply staying very far away from hostiles and sniping them.
  • Complete a superior (red) High-risk Area in under 6 minutes.
    • Simple and to the point. Emphasize as much damage output as possible without sacrificing too much survivability. Using an easy set of traits on the decoder and a lower-level decoder (up to 3 levels below your character level) can greatly help here.
