For difficulty in Everspace, see Difficulty. |
Difficulty works differently in Everspace 2 compared to the first game. Rather than modifying resources drops, the environment, and minor tweaks to enemies, difficulty options instead change the scaling of enemy stats.
Unlike the original game, difficulty can be changed at anytime in the "Game" tab of the settings menu.
Difficulty differences[ | ]
Nightmare difficulty is unlocked after completing the game's story.
Very Easy | Easy | Normal | Hard | Very Hard | Nightmare | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Description | Focus on the story without complications | Reduce some tension for more casual piloting | Experience the DMZ in its brutal fairness | Raise the stakes to challenge and hone your skills | Plans are for fools, my friend. | The stuff of nightmares.
Enemies are supercharged in offensive and defensive capabilities. Tougher enemies have a small chance to drop Legendary Equipment anywhere in the DMZ. |
- Enemy accuracy, damage, and health values increase with the difficulty. Loot quality is not affected.
- Nightmare allows legendary items to begin dropping at level 15, which is the only "loot quality" difference based on the chosen difficulty.
- Does not affect Ancient Rift difficulty, but does affect the enemy challenge of High-risk Areas and Incursions.
Trivia[ | ]
- The description of Very Hard is a reference to a line of dialogue Dax Bashar says early in the game
