Jobs are short missions offered at certain stations within the more stable portions of the DMZ in Everspace 2. The player can take on up to 4 Jobs at once.
Mechanics[ | ]
Job generation[ | ]
Jobs are procedurally generated missions with the following characteristics:
- Job Type: Describes what kind of task needs to be accomplished upon taking the job. Many types offer similar objectives to those found in supralight events.
- Faction: The organization offering the job. Certain types of jobs are offered only by specific factions.
- Level: The recommended player level for the job. New jobs try to set their level near that of the player.
- Job Brief: Provides specific details for the job. Consists of an introduction, a listing of the job details, and a conclusion.
- Both the introduction and the conclusion are randomly chosen from selections of possible introductions and conclusions for the relevant faction.
- The job detail listing is structured in one of several specific ways for each job type.
- Location: Where the job must be started or completed. Depending on the job type, this may be a permanent location or a temporary one with unique system coordinates.
- Rewards:
- Credits based on level
- 200 (220 if above level 4) Renown based on renown rank
- 0-3 unique resource, consumable or equipment rewards based on renown rank (limited to a maximum quantity of 1 full stack for each unique reward). These rewards must be manually claimed upon job completion.
Job sources[ | ]
As of the full launch, six stations affiliated with three factions have job boards that periodically refresh their offerings as in-game time passes, listed below.
- Grady & Brunt: Nephtys Plains Station (Nephtys Plains), G&B Office & Hangar (Prescott Starbase), G&B Union Branch (Noah Damaris Starport)
- Kato Clan: Kato Palace (Prescott Starbase, requires completion of Running the Wheel to unlock)
- Coalition: Settlement (Avonrest), Coalition HQ (Letho Starport)
Since renown is simply a total, the faction players claim jobs from does not matter (unless they want to do an exclusive type).

- Acquisition of Goods: Our mining yield of [Commodity] was unexpectadly [sic] low. Could you close the gap and somehow acquire ##x [Commodity] and deliver the goods to [Station] at [Location]. / Acquire ##x [Commodity] and bring it to [Station] at [Location].
- Obtain the required amount of a specific commodity, then dock at the specified station with the goods in the ship's cargo hold.
- Item Retrieval: We were robbed at [Location]. / Our wares were taken from us at [Location]. / At [Location] some outlaws took our goods.
- One of several tagged enemies is carrying a valuable item. Kill enemies until a Sealed Container appears, then pick it up and deliver it to the station offering the job.
- Lost Cargo
- Retrieve one or more Sealed Container from the marked shipwreck(s). Sometimes, one or more short puzzles will need to be solved in order to gain access to the container(s).
- Mine Sweeper: Signals of active mines were found at [Location]. / Clear the mines at [Location]. / There are dangerous mines left at [Location]. / At [Location] are active mines that can be cleared.
- Three hostile mine fields have appeared at a location. The job is complete once all mines in these fields have been neutralized, either via detonation or by conversion into friendly mines.
- Repel Attackers: Defend the cargo ships at [Location]. / Help defending the freighters at [Location]. / Our G&B freighters at [Location] are under attack! Please help us in any way you can!
- Freighter-class ships are under attack from hostiles. Take out all incoming enemies while keeping the tagged cargo ships alive.
- Search & Destroy: A group of hostiles was seen at [Location]. / We were attacked at [Location].
- Seek out and eliminate a specific set of enemies. All targets are automatically tagged upon arrival at the job location.
- Destroy Base: A lot of our own got attacked around [Location]. / There's a high incidence of Outlaw attacks in [Location].
- Destroy the defenses, communications, and supply containers of the base at the job location, then take out the boss that appears.
- The objects that need to be destroyed have a slight orange glow/highlight. When three of the objectives remain, they will be highlighted with a green marker on the HUD.
- Hitman: We want you to put [Target Name] to justice. The target has commited [sic] atrocious crimes and is hiding out at [Location].
- Ramen Delivery: Drop three packages throughout Prescott Starbase using Delivery Drones. Should a drone be destroyed the job will fail. Should a delivery not be made in time a small percentage of credits will be deducted from the reward.
- Volatile Goods: Pick up 3 containers at [Location] containing volatile contraband and send them here using an on-site cargo drone.
- Collect dangerous cargo and deposit it at the marked drop-off point (a cargo drone), taking care to prevent the cargo from exploding (due to reaching 100% volatility) during the collection process. While carrying Sealed Containers associated with this job, firing weapons and taking damage causes volatility buildup which slowly decays over time.
- Battle Support: Help fight [Enemy Faction] at [Location].
- The faction offering the job is engaging in large-scale combat against the enemy faction. Payment is rendered if the paying faction wins the battle.
- Station Maintenance: Help repair the damaged Coalition station at [Location].
- Find and repair a large number of leaks and damage spots on one or more space stations at the job location.
