ES2-Popup-MainframeComponent

Mainframe Expansions are superior software-type items, stored in the same inventory as mission items, that allow the player to upgrade their ship attributes. They are acquired by combining stacks of three rare Mainframe Components, which are also classed as software-type items but take up ship/homebase inventory space prior to combination.

Mainframe Component Icon Mainframe Component in-game description:

An incomplete part of rerouted military-grade circuitry designed to amplify shipboard instruction. A full stack of these will construct a mountable Mainframe Expansion.

Mainframe Expansion Icon Mainframe Expansion in-game description:

A covert reroute circuit that can be mounted to a ship subsystem to maximize output. Mainframe Expansions can be used to enhance attributes like Firepower, Precision, Structure, Utility, Resistance, and Expertise.

Augmenting[ | ]

Each of the six attributes can be upgraded, with each upgrade increasing the attribute's value by +5% each time. The cost of upgrading each specific attribute increases as it is upgraded, with the first costing one Mainframe Expansion (three Mainframe Components), the second costing two Mainframe Expansions (six Mainframe Components), and so on. Each attribute can be upgraded up to five times for a total bonus of +25%.

Mainframe expansions are character-wide and are not specific to ships. Stored expansions and currently leveled attributes will not change when switching ships, unless changed manually.

Trivia[ | ]

  • For some time between V0.7.22328 and V0.10.30179, software items for attribute augmentation were called Mainframe Expansions and Augments.
  • Prior to V0.7.22328, the uncombined software items were called AETERNA Bypasses.
  • Having two attributes maxed out at the same time awards the "Maxed Out" achievement.
