An unshielded bomb thrower
Outlaw Bomb Throwers are an Outlaw enemy in Everspace 2, one of the turret variants attached to Outlaw structures. They slowly shoot barrel-shaped bombs at the player which disable the player's shields.

Almost all bomb throwers are surrounded by a very strong shield which regenerates very quickly, making it difficult to destroy with standard weaponry. The shield can be disabled by grabbing and throwing one of the bomb thrower's bombs right back at it, which disables the shield for a few seconds. It can also be disabled by ramming it with your ship.
Bomb Throwers have very little hull health so an alternate strategy using Corrosion missiles or mines to bypass the shield can be feasible. Weapons with high enough DPS can also outpace the shield regeneration for an easier brute force strategy. Weapons with a "% chance to disable the target's shields" modifier can also work quite well, completely bypassing the turret's shields.
