Platings are a type of module in Everspace 2 that provides armor hitpoints. If armor is depleted, the currently equipped plating can be repaired by paying credits at a station, defeating enemies, or using armor-restoring devices, consumables, and perks. Armor protects against energy damage and is a second layer of protection that is depleted if the shield is down.
Overview[]
- Platings can be changed at any time, but the current percentage of remaining armor persists through the switch.
- Example: if armor is reduced to 200 points while using a 400-armor plating, switching to a 600-armor plating will increase current armor to 300 points out of 600 maximum, retaining the 50% fraction of the original plating at the time of the switch.
- Platings are the only modules which are inherently immune to equipment conditions (i.e. they cannot be damaged or overheated). However, they typically have a low credit value for their level and quality.
- By default, missing armor can be restored at any hangar by paying up to 133% of plating value (100% repair) in credits.
Passive Effects[]
- Armor: Base durability of the ship's plating. Scales exponentially with item level (including bonus levels from rarities and prefixes) by an exponential base of 1.16 (adds 16% of the current value when item level is increased by 1).
- Repair per kill: Maximum amount of missing armor which is restored whenever an enemy is defeated, expressed as a percentage of maximum armor. Ranges from 2% to 20% based on the type of plating and, where applicable, the faction of the defeated enemy.
Variants[]
Standard[]
- Plating: Standard armor (80 at Level 1 Common), 5% repair per kill. Valued at 15.4 credits at Level 1 Common.
- Phase Plating: Standard armor (98 at Level 1 Uncommon), 6% repair per kill. Valued at ~29.7 credits at Level 1 Uncommon.
- Meson Plating: Standard armor (111 at Level 1 Rare), 7% repair per kill. Valued at ~54.1 credits at Level 1 Rare.
- Nano Plating: Standard armor (141 at Level 1 Superior), 8% repair per kill. Valued at 118.8 credits at Level 1 Superior.
