Rail Guns are a primary weapon type in Everspace 2 that fires a long-range energy ray with pinpoint accuracy. Can be charged to increase damage output.

- Damage and energy-related stats of all primary weapons scale exponentially with item level (including bonus levels from rarities and prefixes), with exponential bases of 1.13, 1.16, and 1.14 applying to damage, energy capacity, and energy consumption, respectively.
- Time to full charge is 1.80s by default (1.26s with a Swift prefix), resulting in a weapon energy cost per fully-charged volley of 33.3 (23.31 with a Swift prefix) at Level 1 Common.
- Energy consumption rates only apply while charging. Holding a full charge blocks energy regeneration, but does not consume energy.
- Listed DPS is computed based on firing fully-charged volleys as quickly as possible, taking into account both charge time and fire rate.
- No prefix: approx. 318% of listed damage (approx. 2.36s total between 750% damage volleys)
- Swift (-30% charge time): approx. 413% of listed damage (approx. 1.82s total between 750% damage volleys)
- Rapid (+20% fire rate): approx. 331% of listed damage (approx. 2.26s total between 750% damage volleys)
- Rail Gun has a chance to generate with one or more of the following type-specific modifiers:
- 5% chance to slow target by 50% with each hit for 3 seconds.
- 5% chance for each shot to increase all damage dealt to the target's hull by 100% for 5s.
- 5% chance with each hit to deal corrosion damage for 3 seconds.
- 10% chance to disable the target's shield for 2 seconds with each hit.
