| codex = Natural resources is the generic term given to all naturally-occuring matter typically found locked inside asteroids, moons, and larger celestial bodies. These are highly sought-after commodities, such as heavy metals, gases, crystals, plasma, and dark matter, necessary for the [[Colonials|Colonial]] drive for galactic expansion. Private [[:Category:Corporations|corporations]] are chiefly involved in extracting and transporting these resources back into the homeworld markets. Exploration and extraction technology is highly evolved and corporations are continuing to discover more efficient methods. 

Using nano-technology, natural resources can be processed, combined, or crafted to fulfill a multitude of uses, including weapon and ship enhancement, engine upgrades, or hull repairs, thus making it essential to the solo pilot traversing the galaxy to have a constant supply.
