Shields are a type of module in Everspace 2 that provides a regenerating energy shield. Shown as a blue bar on the heads-up display, this kinetic damage-negating barrier is the ship's first line of defense.

Shield Passive Effects[ | ]

Most passive effects of shields scale exponentially with item level (including bonus levels from rarities and prefixes). See below for the exponential bases used to scale specific effects.

  • Capacity: The base hitpoints provided by the ship's shield. Scales exponentially with item level by an exponential base of 1.16 (adds 16% of the current value when item level increases by 1).
  • Recharge Speed (%): An efficiency factor applied to the shield output of the ship's energy core for the purposes of restoring missing shield points. This factor is specific to shield type and does not scale with item level.
    • Example: A recharge speed of 150% converts a shield output of 100 energy units per second to a recharge rate of 150 hitpoints per second.
  • Recharge Delay (s): The time required for the shield to initiate a recharge after it absorbs damage without being fully depleted. Scales exponentially with item level by an exponential base of 0.99 (subtracts 1% of the current value when item level increases by 1).
  • Shutdown Duration (s): The time required for the shield to reboot and initiate a recharge after it has been fully depleted. Scales exponentially with item level by an exponential base of 0.99.

Shield Specific Prefixes[ | ]

The following unique prefixes are available for shields. For more information, see Prefixes.

  • Accelerated: Increases recharge speed by 30% (multiplicative).
  • Overcharged: Increases capacity by 20%.
  • Primed: Reduces recharge delay and shutdown duration by 30%.

Shield Specific Modifiers[ | ]

The following modifiers can be found on shields with a rarity of Uncommon or higher. For more information, see Modifiers and Modules for universal modifiers.

  • Deal 70% of energy damage back to the attacker's own shield
  • Missiles only deal half of their energy damage to the shield.
  • +20% increased recharge speed if your ship is exposed to sunlight.
  • Fires an EMP blast with a 500m radius that stuns for 2s when the shield enters shutdown state.
  • 2% increased energy recharge rate for each enemy within 500m
  • Instantly starts recharging when depleted; can only occur once every 20 seconds
  • 15% increased boost speed while depleted
