For ships in Everspace, see Player ships. |
Playable ships in Everspace 2 consist of three different fighter classes - light, medium, and heavy. Each class has three subtypes, each of which randomly have several different wing, body, and engine types.
Each ship also has a tier level. Higher tier ships have better stats and are more expensive. There are I (+), II (+), III (+), and IV (with level 6 ship dealer perk) tier ships. Owning a ship of a certain tier allows the next tier to show up in ship dealer stocks.
Classes[]
Each class of ships has a unique playing style, each with access to different abilities and combinations of equipment slots.
Light []
Light fighters are small, agile ships that have low modifiers to shield, armor and hull, but extremely high maneuverability.
- Scout - Light yet premium framework of the Scout-class fighter optimizes concealment and mobility technologies. Weapon modifications grant enhanced range, reconstructed from outdated reconnaissance sensors.
- Vanguard - With advanced maneuverability systems, the Vanguard-class fighter enhances shields through impressive acceleration. Weapons are attuned to thrust particulate, increasing critical hit chance when targeting engines.
- Stinger - Deceptive and disruptive, the Stinger-class fighter bypasses standard safety protocols to overlevel devices, which simultaneously power a third hardpoint for a short duration. Light mass makes for high mobility.
Medium []
Medium fighters are versatile all-rounders, with average agility and defenses.
- Interceptor - The Colonial fleet's original workhorse, the Interceptor-class fighter maximizes offensive capabilities by redirecting engine reserves to weapons - a feature preserved from older models - for steady uninterrupted fire.
- Sentinel - Fortified with electronic stabilizers, the Sentinel-class fighter benefits from shield mitigation and energy enhancements. A great all-around vessel to be customized for weaponry, defenses, or devices.
- Striker - Designed for quickly engaging multi-target entanglements, the Striker-class fighter prioritizes damage output as more enemies enter the fray, while specialized thrust generation gets you there.
Heavy []
Heavy fighters make up the largest and slowest of the ship types, but have the highest armor and hull modifiers to take the damage as well as they can dish it out.
- Gunship - Well armed and armored, the Gunship-class fighter is outfitted with additional weapon hardpoints and a modified turret for heavy damage output. The ship lacks speed, but makes up for it with fortifications.
- Bomber - Armament reconstitution technologies allow the Bomber-class fighter to construct warheads using energy and restore hull through direct damage. Shields and armor are prioritized over mobility.
- Vindicator - Serving as a personal carrier, the Vindicator-class fighter reconstitutes battlefield wreckage into drones. Boosted shields compensate the little room for armor, due to the on-board drone hardware.
Ship Dealers[]
New ships can be purchased at special stations (marked with or ) with the ship dealer service. Their stock rotates as time goes on, with one ship rotating after seven minutes, half of the ships after 14 minutes, and 75% after 28 minutes. All of the ships will have changed after 56 minutes. The stock only rotates while in supralight or in a different location. The whole stock can be refreshed every 10 minutes with Tareen's Ship Dealer Perk at level 5.
Currently, there are five ship dealers which are available as soon as their locations are added to the ship's navigation system, all of which will initially offer 5 ships for sale, increased to 9 by investing in Tareen's Ship Dealers Perk. Available ship dealer locations:
- Nephtys Plains Station at Nephtys Plains (Ceto)
- When visiting this station for the first time, all ship classes will be available at level 1, to facilitate switching to the player's preferred class early on.
- Freelancer Hangar at Prescott Starbase (Union)
- G&B Union Branch at Noah Damaris Starport (Union)
- Coalition HQ at Letho Starport (Drake)
- Ships & Supplies at Coalition Cargo Terminal (Drake)
- The Flying Dutchess at all locations with beacons, once the Ship Dealers perk is upgraded to level 2.
- The selection of ships from this dealer at any given moment is the same at all beacon locations.
- The freighter's smaller size limits the options to 3 ships at first, improved to 6 ships at Ship Dealers level 4.
- Kato's Palace at Prescott Starbase (Union), with Ship Dealers at level 6.
- Kato's Palace exclusively sells Tier IV ships, and is the only location to do so.
- The Palace will always offer exactly one Tier IV ship of each of the 9 ship classes.
If the option "buy and sell current" is chosen when purchasing a new ship, the old ship will be available to buy back without any credit loss. This makes risk-free trial runs of available ships possible, as long as the player stays in that location.
Tier Availability[]
Ship tiers offered by ship dealers changes based on the player's current Level and ship tier.
The game determines a "maximum available ship tier" (suitable for current progress - level & tier) and a "minimum available ship tier" (one tier/+ lower than the current ship tier). All ships on display are randomly chosen to be between that minimum and maximum tier, with one minimum and one maximum guaranteed to be available. Note that for all dealers except Kato's Palace, the "maximum available ship tier" is capped at III+. Kato's Palace is the only location that offers Tier IV ships.

- Striker: Bordeaux, Capkaru SD42 , Insurgent, Stellarwind, X-25 Swift Wing, Zephyrus
- Bomber: Goldstar, Hyena, Lacunae
- Vindicator: Fatebringer, Fulmin
Customization[]
All ships can be customized with paint jobs, emissive light colors, engine colors, window tints, decals, and different ship modules. Up to four individual styles can be set to be used on different ships, along with the ship's original style.
- Paint Job: colors can be used to customize three separate liveries along with their finish (standard or metallic) and gloss. New ship colors are found as rare loot from containers & enemies, or by buying a new ship with colors that have not been unlocked yet. There are 35 total colors available, with 'Snow White' and 'Crimson' unlocked by default with the starting ship.
- Window Tint: Changes the tint of the cockpit window. 13 colors available. Found in the same way as paint colors.
- Engine Colors: Change the color of the main thrusters, boosters, and lateral thrusters. 13 colors available, unlocked from mastering challenges.
- Emissive lights: Small glowing lights on various parts of all ships. New colors can be found/unlocked in the same way as ship colors. There are 15 emissive light colors, with 'Noon Sky' and 'Crayola' being unlocked by default with the starting ship. The lights can also be turned off. There are 14 options available.
- Decals: There are 21 different decal options available (including no decal at all), each of which is a different symbol or logo of factions in-game. Insignia & text colors can be customized further (6 options) using unlocked ship colors. Unlocking by leveling renown and completing certain side missions.
- Ship Modules: Change the front, wings, and rear module of a ship, which also changes the ship name. Unlocked in the same way as ship colors. There are 113 total ship modules. Wings are tiered, and higher tier wings cannot be used on a lower tier ship.
