Smoke & Mirrors is a main mission in Everspace 2.
Objectives & Walkthrough[]
- Dock at Remote Station in Outer Rim
- Buy the Material Encryptor at Remote Station
- Get the Material Encryptor to Maddocks
- Visit Remote Station
- Go to Forlorn Vale
- Reach the cave entrance
- Steal a detonator from G&B & blow up the boulder
- Descend into the cave
- Investigate the Ancient secret
- First rune is on route to the main chamber
- Second rune is in the room to the right when entering the main chamber, underneath some loose debris
- Third rune is in the room to the left (opposite the second) beyond a destructable wall
- From the position of each rune, turn to face the center
- The appropriate symbol for a given rune should be visible, except for one which is blocked by some loose debris
- Match the symbol by setting each rune with the matching symbol facing toward the center
- Defeat the Ancient Warden
- Use weapons with high energy damage (wardens only take energy damage) to shoot the warden, thermal guns work well as you can focus on avoiding damage whilst firing
- After the warden has take a certain amount of damage, one of the runes will spawn crystals, destroy them and then the rune
- Runes will only be vulnerable for a short amount of time before spawning more crystals (rocket launchers work pretty well)
- Repeat this process until the warden is defeated
- Retrieve the Ancient Artifact
- Return to the surface
- Take the artifact to the hacker
- Go to Avonrest
- Get the Material Encryptor to Maddocks [2:00]
- Mission fails after two minutes if the player has not docked at Maddocks' station yet
- Face the Okkar
- Fight until Maddocks can jump
- Mission fails if Maddocks' ship is destroyed
- Visit Homebase

- I finally got a hold of Maddocks.
As it turns out the job, he and Dax have been working on, involves a large amount of Viridium hidden somewhere in the DMZ. But in order to reach it, he has to get his illegal mining vessel past the numerous Okkar squads patrolling Union.
He believes some trader living near the Union Outer Rim might help.
Meeting Fallon Pango:[]
- For this I made a deal with Fallon Pango, a shady hacker from Union's outer rim. I am going to acquire a rare artefact for him. In return he will provide me and Maddocks with cloaking technology for the freighter.
After Pango:[]
- I managed to acquire a cloaking device for Maddocks' freighter from a hacker called Fallon Pango. Now I need to get it Maddocks before the Okkar reach him first.
Completed:[]
- I found Maddocks and learned about his and Dax' plan to mine a large amount of Viridium. I got to him just in time and managed to slip him a cloaking device to hide his illegal mining vessel. He was able to escape into supralight before the Okkar could catch him. I myself was caught and handed over to the Colonial Fleet...
