Deceptive and disruptive, the Stinger-class fighter bypasses standard safety protocols to overlevel devices, which simultaneously power a third hardpoint for a short duration. Light mass makes for high mobility.
Gain +1 to all device levels. Also, using a device powers an additional primary hardpoint for 5s.
Instantly resets all device cooldowns and releases a huge swarm of aggressive micro-bots that will consume everything in their way, prioritizing the locked target. Upon return, they will restore hull and armor based on the total damage dealt.

The Stinger is a subclass of light fighter class ship in Everspace 2 that becomes more powerful for a time after using a device.

Special[]

Device Master: Gain +1 to all device levels. Also, using a device powers an additional primary hardpoint for 5s.

Notes:[]

  • Gives a straight-up boost to the effective level of the Device making it stronger.
  • The additional hardpoint effect depends on the weapon. Single-hardpoint weapons like a Flak cannon simply have a 50% faster firing rate. Twin-beam weapons like some versions of a Railgun will fire a third beam with each shot.

Ultimate Ability (ULT)[]

Void Swarm: Instantly resets all device cooldowns and releases a huge swarm of aggressive micro-bots that will consume everything in their way, prioritizing the locked target. Upon return, they will restore hull and armor based on the total damage dealt.

Notes:[]

A guided Damage over Time effect that aims for the target-locked ship, or the closest enemy when there is no target. Deals moderate damage over time.

Passive[]

The following passive effects are currently available for Stingers. A ship can only have one of the two exclusive passives.

  • 20% reduced cooldowns for support devices.
  • 20% reduced cooldowns for warfare devices.
  • Void Swarm radius increased by 25%
  • Become cloaked for 5s after shield is depleted.
  • Using a device restores 15% shields.
  • The third hardpoint consumes no additional energy.
  • Using a device restores 25% boost energy.
  • 25% increased corrosion damage. [Exclusive]
  • 25% increased EMP duration. [Exclusive]

Tactical Analysis[]

A bit of a glass cannon. It can get some reasonable damage output from its Primary weapons while the extra hardpoint is in effect, but in general it is extremely fragile and will not last long in frontline combat; the heal-on-return effect from Void Swarm typically won't return fast enough to save you.
