Wraith IV

A medium-class, stealth-runner utilized by the Okkar Servant caste. It is an experimental combat ship, utilizing cutting-edge technology, even for Okkar standards.
Killing enemies leaves Echo Fragments where the enemy is destroyed. Collecting them grants a stack of "Ethereal Resonance" for 12s, each dealing 60 Energy and 100 Kinetic damage per second to all nearby enemies while increasing the speed of the Wraith by 5%. The damage is doubled for the locked target.
The ship transforms into a ghostly, semi-corporeal form for an indefinite time. However, the hull will decay over time ending the Spectral Form once it reaches zero. While in spectral form, the damage is increased by up to 100%, depending on how much of the hull is missing. While active, all devices are replaced with Special Spectral Form Devices.

The Wraith is a subclass of the medium fighter class ship in Everspace 2 which puts a heavy focus on using its ULT in synergy with its special ability and passives to unfold its full potential. The Wraith is slower and less maneuverable than the other medium fighter class ships and has average shield and armor.

Its special ability causes destroyed enemy ships to spawn Echo Fragments that can be collected and stacked to deal damage to nearby enemy ships and increase the speed of the Wraith, compensating the lower speed during fights.

Obtaining[]

The Wraith can only be bought from the merchant of the Coalition Cargo Terminal during the "The Wraith" side mission which is available after completing the main storyline from the Wrath of the Ancients DLC. The ship is only available in Tier IV and costs 1,000,000 credits. During the "Unwelcome Guests" main mission the player is able to pilot the Wraith for the duration of the mission but cannot keep it.

Special[]

Quantum Covenant: Killing enemies leaves Echo Fragments where the enemy is destroyed. Collecting them grants a stack of "Ethereal Resonance" for 12s, each dealing Energy 60 (energy) and Kinetic 100 (kinetic) damage per second to all nearby enemies while increasing the speed of the Wraith by 5%. The damage is doubled for the locked target.

Notes:[]

  • Damage and range for affected enemies is determined by the Expertise. The range is at least 300m.
  • Stacking Echo Fragments compensates the lower speed of the Wraith. Two stacked Echo Fragments are sufficient to make it as fast as the Striker and the Sentinel. With a stack of four Echo Fragments the Wraith is as fast as the Vanguard.

Ultimate Ability (ULT)[]

Spectral Form: The ship transforms into a ghostly, semi-corporeal form for an indefinite time. However, the hull will decay over time ending the Spectral Form once it reaches zero. While in spectral form, the damage is increased by up to 100%, depending on how much of the hull is missing. While active, all devices are replaced with Special Spectral Form Devices.

Spectral Form Devices:[]

Icon Device Ability Cooldown Range
ES2-Icon-SiphonPulse Siphon Pulse Consume all "Ethereal Resonance" stacks and instantly deal the remaining damage to all affected enemies, repairing your hull for 50% of the damage dealt. 15s
ES2-Icon-SpectralShift Spectral Shift Teleport 600m forward, passing through smaller enemies. Damage all targets for Kinetic 4.5k and Energy 3.5k in a 100m radius around your path. Collects all Echo Fragments along the way. 8s 600m
ES2-Icon-Vanish Vanish Turn invisible and suspend the hull decay for 10.0s. Duration increases by 2.0s when collecting Echo Fragments for up to 10s. 19s
ES2-Icon-Resurgence Resurgence Collect all available Echo Fragments and revive them as manifestations of their former selves, forcing them to fight for you for 15.0s. 23s

Notes:[]

  • The ship is not destroyed when the hull reaches zero, instead the Spectral Form ends and the hull is fully restored.
  • Spectral Form and Vanish are both shown as buff condition.
  • Spectral Shift has three charges, each having its own cooldown.
  • While Spectral Form is activated, the screen is tinted cyan and the ship is enveloped in an energy field.
  • The hull gauge turns cyan while Spectral Form is activated.
  • Damage and cooldown of the Spectral Form Devices is affected by the Utility attribute. The effect on the cooldown is not shown though.
  • Effects that activate while the ship is cloaked also activate when Vanish is active:
    • Universal module modifiers:
      • 10% increased primary weapon damage while cloaked
      • 10% increased secondary weapon damage while cloaked
      • 10% increased device damage while cloaked
    • Zealous Core - 50% reduced weapon energy consumption while cloaked.
    • Shrouded Thrusters - 40% increased boost speed while cloaked.

Notes:[]

  • The scaling for the Ethereal Resonance range does not follow the regular scaling for attributes. The scaling can be described via the following formula:

Passives[]

The Wraith has a fixed set of exclusive passives.

  • Consumables have a 30% chance not to be spend upon use.
  • Hull damage has a 25% chance to be ignored.
  • Entering Spectral Form fully restores weapon and boost energy.
  • Each stack of "Ethereal Resonance" reduces the hull decay during Spectral Form by 10%.
  • Okkar units will initially only detect the ship if it is in their field of view and closer than 1000m.

Tactical Analysis[]

The Wraith is intended for close combat, dog-fight style engagements where it can use the full potential of its special ability in synergy with its ULT. Unlike the Striker which also has a focus on close counter battles, the Wraith relies more on the usage of its devices and the Spectral Form. With the help of the Spectral Form and the unique Spectral Form Devices it can sustain enemy fire for longer or evade it if required. However it is still way less durable than any heavy fighter class ship.

Due to its heavy reliance on the Ultimate Ability, it greatly benefits from Equipment that generates the ULT faster. Especially the Tactical Systems Core or parts of the Tides of Siren's Sea Set.

The greatest challenge of the Wraith is its low maneuverability making it difficult to aim and shoot at enemies, especially in close combat. Therefore weapons that track the enemy or have an auto aim feature are favorable, e.g the Smart Gauss, Thermo Guns or Homing Missiles.

Trivia[]

  • Buying the Wraith from the merchant unlocks the "Bean There Done That" achievement.
